“The Living Newspaper” is a collaborative theatre project directed by Nini Ayach, and performed at artellewa’s Studio Khalat.

The project consists of a series of bi-weekly performances, a “journal,” that will respond to current events and the media in a spontaneous and immediate way through theater and puppetry performances.   Inspired by the “living newspaper” form created after the Bolshevik revolution, this project will provide a space to interpret the fast-paced media in creative and meaningful way. A special focus will be on feminist issues and civil rights.  The process will involve close collaboration with activist groups and socially engaged organizations, to bridge the gap between art and action.

Ongoing collaborative workshops: February-April

Nini Ayach is a Franco-American artist and puppeteer.  She studied fine arts at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. As a curator and organizer, she co-founded  The Poetry Club Artspace and the Greenpoint Pre-Apocalyptic Theatre Festival.
