Zawya is pleased to invite you to its first collaboration with Cairobserver for a special film program titled "Documenting Cairo on Film"
Cairobserver is an on-line platform for conversations about Cairo's architecture and building, urban fabric and city life
This film program brings together a selection of documentary films focused on various aspects of life in Cairo. Each film focuses on a set of characters or particular places shedding light on often overlooked communities, ways of life, urban complexities and social networks. Together these documentaries provide a new map of the city as seen through the eyes of the directors who approach it in a variety of ways. Hosted by Zawya, this film program will for the first time allow Cairo’s residents to come together and view these phenomenal films on a big screen and in conversation with one another
