The Arabic Cultural program hosts novelists Hammour Ziada and Mohamed al-Mansi Qandil to discuss representations of slavery and black and white love in their most recent works.Ziada’s The Longing of the Dervish (Dar al-Ain, 2014) was awarded the Naguib Mahfouz Medal for Literature in 2015 and Qandil’s Black Battalion (Al-Shuruq, 2015) was long listed for the International Prize for Arabic Fiction in 2016.
