After more than a year of travel and research, we are proud to present the guide; “Social Justice and the Built Environment | A Map of Egypt”, crowning the Right to Housing Initiative (RtHI) that included a series of short documentaries and talks on all things built environment.
The guide maps the main urban issues facing communities in Egypt, be them cities, villages or beduin settlements, viewing them through the lens of the Right to the City, and the Right to Housing, which include other rights such as water, land, energy and participation.
Tonight’s discussion will cover the four chapters of the guide and are intertwined with screenings of the documentaries. The chapters start with a macro view of the built environment; management, planning and participation, then work their way down to the community level; the state of services and safety, culminating at the smallest scale; the home.
The guide and films are available online through a creative commons license, allowing decentralized collaborations, while DVD copies are available at the event.
