Mission Statement
The Instituto Cervantes is the body established by the Spanish government in 1991 to support and promote the learning, study and use of the Spanish language and to contribute to the dissemination of the culture of Spanish-speaking countries abroad. The Instituto Cervantes is keen, through the various activities it organizes, to introduce the common cultural and linguistic heritage of all Spanish-speaking countries. The institute is present through its network of centers and chapters currently in 88 cities in 45 countries on the level of the five continents of the world. The Institute also has two headquarters in Spain, the main headquarters in Madrid and another in Alcala de Henares.
