From film as a direct intervention into "History in the making" during the May 68 events in France to film as a proactive intervention into History as a living entity, Rafei will address the use of historical documentary as a catalyst for change and possibilities.

The talk will focus on the pioneering work of director Peter Watkins and how it lies in an intersection between reality and fiction, documentation and interpretation, collective and personal, past and present.

Raed Rafei is a lebanese reporter, filmmaker and has mainl worked as a journalist with various publications covering an array of fields (political, social, economic...) since 2004. Recently he co-directed with his sister Rania Rafei, the film “74: reconstitution of a struggle.”
