Tom Bogaert is holding a constructivist-style performative artist talk about the current state of his ongoing project 'Sun Ra in Egypt' at Townhouse Gallery in Cairo. The artist will be discussing the provisional outcome of his research alongside live experiments during his performance.

‘Sun Ra in Egypt’ is a research-based project that examines Sun Ra’s personal mythology of Cosmic Philosophies, Black Nationalism, Freemasonry and various other spiritual belief systems many of which were derived from ancient Egypt.
The project consists of a series of exploratory works with public outcomes illustrating stages of work-in-progress. In line with how Sun Ra crafted his otherworldly universe, the project will maintain an independent approach of low-production and self-production. The resulting work will take the form of performances, live jazz concerts, a publication and an exhibition in Cairo in 2014.
