Ordeal, a conversation with Safaa Fathy

The Townhouse library is pleased to invite the filmmaker and poet Safaa Fathy for a conversation and live reading of her play ”Ordeal,” prefaced by Jacques Derrida. Open to all.
Safaa Fathy is an Egypt-born poet, filmmaker and essayist. She obtained her PhD from the Sorbonne in 1993 and is currently Program Director at the International College of Philosophy. Her most recent films are “Mohammad saved from the waters”, “Derrida’s elsewhere” and a film-poem, “Nom à la mer”. Her plays “Terror” and “Ordeal” were prefaced by Jacques Derrida, with whom she wrote “Tourner les mots au bord d’un film”. Her latest publications include a collection of poems entitled “A name in a bottle at the sea” and essays entitled “see and believe” and “The secret in the image”.
