Artellewa invites guests to the first performance of The Living Newspaper, in which we will unveil our new puppet theatre, and present a performance featuring traffic, televisions, and housewives.

The performance will begin at 6:00, and will last 15 minutes.

“The Living Newspaper” is a collaborative theatre project directed by Nini Ayach, and performed at artellewa’s Studio Khalat.

The project consists of a series of bi-weekly performances, a “journal,” that will respond to current events and the media in a spontaneous and immediate way through theater and puppetry performances.   Inspired by the “living newspaper” form created after the Bolshevik revolution, this project will provide a space to interpret the fast-paced media in creative and meaningful way. A special focus will be on feminist issues and civil rights.  The process will involve close collaboration with activist groups and socially engaged organizations, to bridge the gap between art and action.

Ongoing collaborative workshops: February - April
