Introduction to Darkroom Techniques

No one has a full perspective on photography without gaining a fundamental knowledge of darkroom practice! This course is designed to provide you with that knowledge. It explores analogue photography and covers all aspects of black and white darkroom techniques from film processing to printing, enlarging and toning. Through the course, participants become acquainted with the functions and purposes of darkroom equipment and experience all its procedures. 

Applications for these skills: artistic, archival, personal and heritage projects.

about instructor:

Mohamed ElMaymouny has lived & worked in Cairo since 1998. As photographer he participated in collective local & international exhibitions. ElMaymouny also works as a photojournalist for Egyptian local newspapers alongside his job as Darkroom Technician at the Contemporary Image Collective in Cairo. He mainly developed his skills through direct interaction and collaboration with other photographers, especially those with a unique or distinctive style or practice. ElMaymouny is specialized in working with large format film and alternative photography techniques.

Payment policy:
Course fees will be divided into 2 installments, 50 % to be paid upon filling in the application form (at CIC), and the remaining installment could be placed any time before the end of the course. 

Note: the minimum number of participants to start the Introduction to Darkroom Techniques is 4 students.
