Nacera Belaza’s work resembles a quest and tends towards the enhancement of the direct bond between the dancer and the spectator. Each element of her pieces – light, space, time, the body – respond to each other on stage and develop their own designs.

NACERA BELAZA
Nacera Belaza was born in Algeria and has been living in France since the age of five. Following her studies at the Université Reims, she created her own dance company in 1989. In 2014, the company produced ‘Les Oiseaux’ and ‘La Traverseé’; it is regularly invited to prestigious festivals including Festival Montpellier Danse, the Rencontres Chorégraphiques Internationales de Seine-Saint-Denis, the Festival d’Avignon, and the Biennale de la danse de Lyon. Belaza also founded an artistic cooperative in Algeria and has been in charge of the contemporary dance festival ‘Le Temps dansé’ programme since 2013.
